“…. I have always believed that architecture is something else, something unattainable rationally .” Ignazio Gardella , 1995.
The architect Ignazio Gardella is undoubtedly one of the greatest Italian architects of this century ends . In Spain , as featured in Italian architecture of the 50 component will be a key figure . He and his contemporaries Gio Ponti, Albini , Pagano, Persian , Rogers, etc. . be opened at the crossroads of a renewed postwar cultural attitude to affirm their desire to operate not only within the maximum of the modern movement but at the same time the consciousness of tradition and continuity .
The installation of the exhibition we have done , underlies almost imperceptibly , the ground of the Borsalino homes , symbol of Gardella preceding 1950-52 considered the building of the Barceloneta Jose Antonio Coderch of 1952-1954
The exposed material contains superb original plans of the teacher, old and new models, portraits throughout his life, vintage images of his works , current pictures of their projected sequence works as well as furniture and lamps that once designed .
This was the first retrospective of the master who also was made the same year of his death, 1999. Subsequently the exhibition traveled to Italy.
